3 Reasons Why You Should Not Give Up On Your Faith In Christ

Trusting in Christ for our salvation and life today is the best thing that we can do. Sadly, because of many things, some give up the faith and pursue other things they consider important. Why do some give up anyway?

The Bible gives us explanations why some abandon their faith in Jesus. According to a parable that the Lord spoke in Matthew 11:1-23, some have their faith choked by the cares of this world while some are unable to establish strong foundations, and have their faith washed away when torrents of troubles come. Others have merely shipwrecked their faith because of a violated conscience (see 1 Timothy 1) or their lack of contentment (see 1 Timothy 6:9-10). Sadly, those who do this do not realise that they have given up the most valuable and most important thing of all: having God as our Father, and our lives dedicated to Christ.

Are you facing struggles that tempt you to give up your faith in Christ? Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t give up on your most holy faith in Him.

1) Christ gave it all for you

It all comes back to the cross. Christ gave all that He had for you. He denied Himself and took on the form of a man to save you. He overcame temptation because it was the prerequisite needed for our salvation: He was sinless, the perfect atoning sacrificial lamb for our sins. (see Romans 5:25-26; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Christ did not hesitate to go all the way, despite the pain. Why? Because He saw the joy that was set before Him, and that joy was us being reconciled to the Father. (see Hebrews 12:2)

2) Christ will never give up on you

The Bible says that He will finish what He started in you. (see Philippians 1:6) You might fail again and again, and might even think that you have no hope, but you’re wrong if you think that Christ will just give up on you because you’re not perfect. Yes, you’re not perfect, but He will not stop.

Christ is the Author and Finisher of our faith. It began in Him, continues in and through Him, and will be brought to completion by Him. Don’t give up, because He won’t give up. (see Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5)

3) Christ’s work is already finished

Have you ever tried playing a video game level that’s already finished? If you have, then you know how easy it is to go around the stage without any hardships – you just enjoy the scenery, the secret areas that contain freebies, and many other treats.

In the same way, Christ has already finished the fight against sin and death. (see John 19:30) If you are in Him, realise that the battle is over, and you are fighting the enemy from a standpoint of victory. Christ has already made a trophy out of sin and the enemy, nailing them on the cross. (see Colossians 2:13-15) You’ve got to realise this truth and live it out!
