More Than 10 KPop Idols Raising Awareness For Breast Cancer

October is the month of breast cancer awareness and each year, the League Against Cancer organizes “Pink October”, a month to highlight the importance of breast cancer screening. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 2.2 million breast cancer cases were recorded in 2020, making it the most common cancer. Nearly one in 12 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death among women, but as medicine is progressing day by day, it is easier to fight back and cure it.

As October just came to an end, here are some idols that dedicated their time to raising awareness for breast cancer.

BM is the leader of the “Big Tittie Committee”, the committee he created around idols working out chests to keep “titties big”. Even though it turned into a meme, BM decided to make it into a movement to support breast cancer awareness and research. To do so, he launched an official “Big Tiddie Gang” merch through his own apparel brand, “Staydium”.BM explained that during KARD’s 2019 tour in Los Angeles, he met a fan having breast cancer at the time. Touched by this meeting, he decided he wanted to be helpful and turned the meme into a positive action.

The profits from the sale of “Staydium” apparel were donated to a non-profit organization that is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. The “Breast Cancer Research Foundation” is a major contributor to cancer research, and BM selected this one for his donation. The “Breast Cancer Research Foundation” even thanked him for his donation of over $20,000! BM doesn’t stop here, he is also an advocator for the damaging effect of verbal abuse on and offline. He launched another clothing line called “Healers” and the benefits are donated to “Stomp Out Bullying”. He really has his heart in his hand!

RoWoon also dedicated part of this time to raising awareness, mostly as the face of campaigns. He is the ambassador of “Estee Lauder”, and its breast cancer campaign which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, alongside (G)-IDLE’s Minnie, and Girl’s Generation’s YoonA. The donation is given to breast cancer-related organizations (ex: Korea Cancer Association) to eradicate cancer, but also educate people about it, and improve medical services for breast cancer patients. On Oct. of this year, a “Pink Ribbon Art House” was even created, which contained art regarding women’s health.

He was also seen wearing W Korea Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign T-shirt, designed by Daniel Larsham. In December 2021, W Korea launched a campaign called “Love Your W Project”, which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer screening. The participating brands and stars have their own covers and photos to help the campaign gain visibility. Nearly one year later, in October of this year, W Korea also hosted a charity event for the 17th Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.
